Radiance and Candi Dasa

I went to Radiance Beauty Clinic this morning for a procedure called sclerotherapy on the purple veins covering the tops of my legs. This procedure uses a highly concentrated saline solution or a specially made detergent that is injected directly into the vein, causing the vein to disappear gradually over three to six weeks.

I was very nervous as I never have medical procedures and I hate needles.  I asked the doctor how many needles I'd be getting.  She chuckled softly and muttered 'alot'.

After 45 minutes of torture I was free to go, with the promise that I will be able to wear bathers this summer without covering my legs.  I hope it was worth it!

Garry organised a driver to take us to Candi Dasa, a 2 hour drive up the east coast.   It was a pleasant coast hugging drive away from the madness of Kuta and Legian.

We booked the Shangrila Beach Club hotel online this morning before we left Legian and are pleased to have a very large room with balcony overlooking the pool and the ocean.  Fifty bucks a night including breakfast for two - can't argue with that.

Snorkelling and diving seem to be the main attractions of this town - what a shame that I'm not allowed to swim for at least two days!  I think I'll hang around for a few days though so that I can experience the underwater wonders before I leave.

There are plenty of boat skippers offering to take us for a full day of snorkelling and relaxation for the total cost of $35.  We'll probably do that on Thursday.

In the meantime, Garry might take up the offer of scuba diving lessons for $100.

Sunsets are very different on this side of the island

I'm looking forward to a day of relaxation and reading tomorrow.
